|Welcome to the Pageviews Analysis feedback forum|
This is the forum to provide feature requests, bug reports, and general feedback for the Pageviews Analysis suite of tools.
Some key notes when making a post:
Siteviews Analysis here show for swwiki in July total of 2.026.777. pageviews.https://pageviews.toolforge.org/siteviews/?platform=all-access&source=pageviews&agent=user&start=2020-07-01&end=2020-07-31&sites=sw.wikipedia.org
But Stats at https://stats.wikimedia.org/#/sw.wikipedia.org show 4.8 Mio. total pageviews in monthly overview for July.
Who is right?
More difference when I compare Siteviews Analysis looking for devices used. Here mobile views have for years been higher than desktop views for swwiki, if I remember correctly.
For 2020 the relationship is 3 Mio desktop views to 12.7 Mio mobile web views;
in Wikimedia Statistics https://stats.wikimedia.org/#/sw.wikipedia.org/reading/total-page-views/normal|bar|all|access~desktop*mobile-app*mobile-web|monthly the numbers are generally higher (see above) but here it is 20 Mio desktop views to 15.4 Mio mobile web views (mobile app very few)
So also here: who is right? If I remember some strategy discussions, consequences were drawn from such numbers.Kipala Kipala : Siteviews by default shows only the pageviews from human users. By contrast, Wikistats apparently by default includes pageviews from spiders (search engines) as well as automated programs. If you adjust these parameters accordingly, and make sure the date ranges are the same, you'll get the same figures. For example, compare vs. . The old stats.grok.se site had the rankings for the top 10,000 pages for a specific month (the month the last top pages list came out) and I wonder if the same could happen for each month for the new tool. It doesn't have to appear as a list but if I view the stats of a page within the top 10,000 of any given month I would like to see where in the 10,000 it ranked. Possible? 2600:1011:B119:429B:F93E:ED1:F1F7:A52E 09:52, 19 September 2020 (UTC)I made a similar request some time ago. Hi we noticed that during last few days total page count of swwiki went from about 60,300 to 59,500. Were actually pages expunged without showing or did something change in the programme? Kipala ( talk ) 11:52, 27 September 2020 (UTC)
(my other question was answered above already)Massviews - & (& in URL)[ edit ]
Massviews Do not work with Links that include & (& in URL) Example: Category:Tiffany & Co. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Tiffany_&_Co .) Error : No data found. Using Chrome on Windows 10 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 220.127.116.11 ( talk ) 12:08, 13 October 2020 (UTC)You are right but your example is confusing because your link omits the ending period in w:Category:Tiffany & Co. A different example without that issue: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Earth,_Wind_&_Fire . A page name with '&' fails for Category but works for Wikilinks, e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B&O which gives https://pageviews.toolforge.org/massviews/?platform=all-access&agent=user&source=wikilinks&range=latest-20&sort=views&direction=1&view=list&target=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B%26O . Constructing the expected url manually also fails for Category: https://pageviews.toolforge.org/massviews/?platform=all-access&agent=user&source=category&range=latest-20&subjectpage=0&subcategories=0&sort=views&direction=1&view=list&target=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Earth,_Wind_&_Fire . Hello, it seems like the Userviews analysis page is broken. Every time I try to search for an username, regardless of the parameters, I get the following error: "An unknown error occurred when querying Page Creation API". TheStriker ( talk ) 12:35, 5 January 2021 (UTC)I got the same error message. Best, -- Thomas Dresler ( talk ) 20:51, 5 January 2021 (UTC) Also... Maybe MusikAnimal (WMF) can help? I'm looking at https://dumps.wikimedia.org/other/pageviews/2021/2021-01/ and the last file is "pageviews-20210106-140000.gz" i.e January 06, 14:00. For years it is updated hourly, and yesterday it suddenly stopped. Can anyone check it?Sorry for the late reply. I believe the Analytics team fixed this. If not, you can reach out to the them via their mailing list . Pageviews Analysis is visualizer of data provided by the API. We can't help with any issue involving the dumps. Carl Robert Tielsch (my greatgrandfather, I was born 1954, the great generation gap is due to second marriages) was first married to Marie Töpffer,née Leupold ( this was his first, her second marriage). After her death, he got married to Elisabeth Köhlisch ( not Köhler as presently seen in the article on C.R. Tielsch). So Elisabeth Köhlisch became Elisabeth Tielsch,my greatgrandmaother- which is also my name. 1. F5 networks and Media show abnormally low % for mobile views
2. On Android using Chrome and do not see the "report false positives" button mentioned in documentation. (Neither in mobile or desktop mode)
Can find me on en-wiki if need further informationSlywriter Slywriter : I don't know which documentation you refer to but I'm just a user of the tool. Pageviews Analysis#Topviews mentions false positives but not a "report false positives" button. Desktop views of "Media" is clearly dominated by false positives in January and February 2020. "F5 Networks" is fairly evenly spread out in both desktop and mobile . If you go further back then it becomes clear that both desktop and mobile have been inflated since July 2018. Before that desktop and mobile had far lower numbers but desktop still looked hinky. PrimeHunter ( talk ) 19:07, 12 February 2021 (UTC) @ PrimeHunter : when in "Top Views", you get a slightly different faq if you click help which discusses false positives, the key enwiki indicator (desktop exceeds mobile) and instructions to report them from the page. Top views shows F5 Networks at ~10% Mobile and Media at ~2%. Pageviews certainly seems to confirm a huge desktop spike at beginning of 2020 for Media which likely implies a scrape. F5 Networks is more complex as it consistently seems to have a 90 to 10 spread of Desktop to Mobile. Slywriter ( talk ) 04:06, 13 February 2021 (UTC) @ Slywriter : After clicking ✖ to remove F5 Networks as described, I see the "report false positive" link. The link disappears if I reload the page but it reappears if I restore and remove the article again. PrimeHunter ( talk ) 08:47, 13 February 2021 (UTC)Failed wikilinks to massviews[ edit ] Interwiki map toolforge:pageviews/?project=en.wikipedia.org&pages=Example .
I cannot get it to work with massviews. This url works:https://iw.toolforge.org/pageviews/massviews/?source=wikilinks&target=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Example
The wikilink version should be:toolforge:pageviews/massviews/?source=wikilinks&target=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Example
MediaWiki encodes $1 so the actual url becomes:https://iw.toolforge.org/pageviews/massviews/?source=wikilinks&target=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Example
Toolforge redirects it to:https://pageviews.toolforge.org/massviews/?source=wikilinks&target=https:/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Example
That fails because https:// was changed to https:/ with one slash. I would like to link massviews in edit summaries where wikilinks are allowed including interwiki links, but raw url's or external link syntax do not produce links. Is there a workaround? I tried many things, e.g. more than two // with and without url encoding them as /. It all failed, e.g. this which still changes to one slash:toolforge:pageviews/massviews/?source=wikilinks&target=https:////////en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Example
Is there a way to link massviews without target=(something with //)? I realize the problem is apparently a Toolforge bug/feature in the redirect and not a pageviews bug/feature, but pageviews could make a workaround like accepting a single slash, or if that's too ugly then accept target=en.wikipedia.org so this works:toolforge:pageviews/massviews/?source=wikilinks&target=en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Example PrimeHunter edit ]
Thats an mistake: "atravessa um meio isolante a uma velocidade superior à da luz neste meio, ", means velocity biggest than speed of light, big error in: https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Efeito_Tcherenkov —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 2804:431:e7c3:67e:8939:8604:7e9a:301f ( talk ) 13 February 2021, 07:37 (UTC)You are only translating a part of it. I don't know Portuguese but according to Google Translate it says "passes through an insulating medium at a speed greater than that of light in this medium". This is correct. If you think nothing can be faster than light then it only applies to a vacuum. See w:Cherenkov radiation if you are better at English. Anyway, it doesn't belong here. If you have an issue with something in the Portuguese Wikipedia then post it there on the talk page or a help page. In the Ukrainian Wikipedia every month we prepare and publish "Wiki Herald".
One of the important things in the bulletin is a list of Wikipedias sorted by number of pageviews, like this:
|1||w:en||8 201||8 272||1|
|2||w:ja||1 167||1 141||2|
|3||de||1 108||1 062||3|
|18||he||83,7 (+33 %)||62,7 (+2,0)||23 (+5)||61,5 (+11,6 %)||22||55,1||20 (-2)|
|19||kr||76,8 (+8 %)||70,9 (-7,1 %)||18 (-1)||76,3||17 (-1)|
|20||hu||74,9 (+11 %)||67,3 (+9,1 %)||19 (-1)||61,7 (+12,6 %)||21 (+2)||54,8||21 (0)|
|21||uk||74,6 (+22 %)||61,3 (+8,3 %)||24 (+3)||56,6 (+18,4 %)||24 (+1)||47,8||23 (-1)|
|22||th||67,1||65,0 (-8,3 %)||22||70,9 (+27,3 %)||18 (-3)||55,7||19 (+1)|
|23||fi||66,9||65,5||21 (-2)||65,5 (+3,9 %)||19 (-1)||63,0||18 (-1)|
|24||hi||65,8||72,6 (+17 %)||17 (-7)||62,2 (+38,5 %)||20 (+3)||44,9||24 (+4)|
|25||vi||65,6||59,2 (+0,3 %)||25||59,0 (+10,9 %)||23 (-1)||53,2||22 (-1)|
|26||ro||55,4||43,2 (+0,9 %)||26||42,8 (+7,5 %)||25||39,8||25 (0)|
|27||el||51,1||37,9||27||37,7 (+10,5 %)||26||34,1||27 (-1)|
|28||no||35,7||37,2||28||37,4 (+3,9 %)||27||36,0||26 (-1)|
|29||da||31,1||30,1||29||33,1 (+10,3 %)||28||30,0||30 (+2)|
I arrange the list of the first 29 Wikipediae manually, so I am not sure if this list for January 2021 is correct. Probably some language versions are missing./metrics/pageviews/aggregate I think is the relevant API endpoint for this data (total pageviews across all pages of a project).
