Building energy simulations require the use of weather data and provide energy consumption estimates that are specific to that weather data. The purpose of this subcommittee is to determine which weather locations to use to represent each climate zone (heating and cooling zones) in the Northwest for RTF measure assessments that use SEEM (residential building simulation) and ENERGY PLUS (non-residential building simulations).
A location selection method is needed in the near term for use in the Non-residential Secondary Glazing Systems measure assessment. For residential measure assessments using SEEM, CAT proposes to use this method to inform the ongoing effort to calibrate SEEM results to billing data from RBSA II and to use this method for measure assessment once the calibration has been approved by the RTF.
The RTF Contract Analyst Team (CAT) has developed a method for selecting representative weather locations that the subcommittee will review and provide feedback on.
